I am always confused by this orientation. If you learn it from other sources, it's always the other way around and without objects to tie around, which at the end is going to be the same knot, yes, but it's not very practical. This explanation makes it very easy.

I rarely comment on RUclips videos, but this was the main knot that I had difficulty doing, and this video literally explained everything simply and perfectly. Thank you sir!

New way to tie? It's simpler

I' m a seaman but I have never seen a bowline tied like that. Remember the old sailors addage with regards to the BOWLINE "The rabbit comes out of the hole, around the tree and back down the hole." One thing, as reliable as the bowline is, IF the rope is pulled tight with some force it will become extremley difficult to undo, to avoid this tie a 'LOGLINE HITCH', which is to take a round turn first, then tie the bowline. This will NEVER jam hence it's name, it was originally used to tie ships log lines, so they would never come undone but could be undone easily when the log line was hauled in.

After countless times of trying to tie my Christmas tree back with fishing line to the mantle of my blinds, while the Christmas tree 12 foot to be exact. full of glass and Christmas bulbs, standing in front of a 8 to 10 foot window metal mantle, holding up the blinds. I decided fishing line would be a way to help this 12 foot tree to be tied against it as it was leaning over from all the glass bulbs on it. my wife’s mom insisted that I use some fishing line to make a bow line knot. I didn’t know how to do so, so to impress my wife’s mom I decided to look up a video, and came across this one. My father and my grandfather was in the Navy, and never had they tried to teach me how to tie any sort of knots, but this video did. this is exceptional even on a damn fishing line, it worked. thank you

Also have the knot "Nó de Rabiola" you can find on brazilian channel "dica de nós" that knot Rabiola means "kite tail knot".
